Prayer Partner Update: KK’s Health

December 29, 2014

So Far- So Good.
Our Oncology appointment went well. The pathology report had a negative reading on one of the indicators (HER2-nu). However, the Oncologist recommended an additional study that will help to rule in/out Chemotherapy. This test (Oncotype) will require at least two weeks and we must wait for the results to know what is next.

Prayer requests:
1/ Praise God for the good pathology report (round one).
2/ Pray for patience as KK waits 2 more weeks to learn about possible Chemotherapy.
3/ KK continues to have fluid retention where the lymph nodes were removed.. It is painful and has twice required a procedure to remove fluid. Pray for pain relief and that her body will begin to deal with this fluid.

Thanks for being a part of our Prayer Team.

Helping Katy Find Support

December 23, 2014

Our daughter Katy serves in the Middle East.  God has opened a door to minister to refugees and she has many opportunites to share the Gospel.  We believe in what she is doing and trying to find a way to help her.

Katy had set aside a couple of months to share her story here in the States.  Instead, she changed her plans to serve her mom during this time of surgery and recovery.  It was especially needed considering we were in the middle of renovating our house when we learned of KK’s cancer and need for surgery.

At this point, Katy needs two things:

1.  Prayer Support: If you would like to join her prayer team and recieve monthly updates, leave a comment below and she will add you to her Prayer Team.  (your comment will not be posted publicly)

2. Finacial Support:  Katy is able to live on a very small budget.  She is trying to raise support for the next two years.  She has about 75% of her support raised with one-time gifts and monthly commitments.  If you would like to help her in this ministry, post a comment below and we can tell you how (your comment will not be posted publicly).

Thanks for joining us in praying for God to provide this supprt.

Prayer Partner Update (12.18.14)

December 18, 2014

KK was able to start physical therapy yesterday at a special facility near our home. On the way there we talked about the blessing of having such a specialized facility near us.

Her oncology appointment is Dec 29th. That’s when we learn the next steps in her treatment plan. We will probably have no other updates until then.

Thanks again for your encouragement and prayers. And thanks for your prayers and interest in Katy’s ministry (see below).

Celebrating God’s indescribable gift! (2 Cor. 9:15)

Response to Prayer Partners

December 16, 2014

Since yesterday’s prayer reqeust, some of you have asked how to give money to support Katy.  In reponse to your request, here is her story:

She has been living in the Middle East for over 7 years and has worked with Syrian refugees for the last 3 years. God has blessed her with the ability to learn the language and her team is experiencing a harvest among a formerly unengaged unreached people group.

She has a “matching gift” of $10,000 that she is praying to match before the end of the year.  In other words, every dollar given is worth two.  If you would like to support her you can give through her Operation Mobilization account by clicking here.

If you would like to be put on her monthly prayer updates, write to

Thanks for your interest in her ministry and thanks for being our prayer partner.

Prayer Partner Update (12.15.14)

December 15, 2014

It’s been two weeks since KK’s surgery. We’ve been back to the surgeon’s office a couple of times and her recovery is on track.

Her pain and discomfort have been up and down over the last two weeks.

She has an appointment with the oncologist after Christmas (12.29.14) and that is when we find out if she will need chemotherapy.

Prayer Request:  Our daughter Katy changed her schedule and is here until the first of the year.  She had to take over our remodeling efforts to keep things simple for KK during this time of recovery.  This detour has impacted her ability to raise support for her mission work.  She still needs a few thousand dollars to support her ministry in the Middle East for the coming year.

Your prayers and encouragement continue to give us strength. God has blessed us with a tremendous Prayer Team.

Thursday Update (Pathology Report)

December 4, 2014

First, thanks for your prayers and encouragement.

We checked in with the surgeon’s office this afternoon and the Final Pathology report confirms:

  • Cancer removed
  • Margins Clear
  • Lymph Nodes Clear

After this season of recovery, KK will follow up with the Oncologist to see what course of action she will need for further treatment.

We can’t say it enough.  God has used you to encourage us and give us strength.  The evidence of your intercession has been evident at every turn.

Wednesday Update

December 4, 2014

All things considered — KK is doing very well.

She is experiencing some pain and discomfort but her attitude is great.

She is resting well and thankful for all of your prayers.

We do not expect the report from pathology until Friday (at the earliest).

I am reading her all of your comments on this site and Facebook– as well as the emails and direct messages.  Your prayers and encouragement are giving her great comfort, joy and strength.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,

so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

(Rom 15:13)
