Day 27: Praying for the Lost

 “…therefore pray earnestly

to the Lord of the harvest

to send out laborers into His harvest.”

When Jesus told His disciples to pray for workers,  He acknowledged that the harvest belonged to God (“His” harvest). Although the harvest belongs to God, Jesus said the disciples had a responsibility:  pray!    (Matt. 9:35-38)

Paul asked his friends to pray for him.  He longed to  share the Gospel and asked his friends to pray for him to see the opportunity, and take the opportunity when it came! (Col 4:2-4)

So we see the starting point — the first responsibility — is to pray.

This week, as you pray for our church, first pray that we will be aware of the harvest.  Pray that God will open our eyes to see it…and send us out to work.

Too often we spend our days unaware that we are surrounded by people who need Christ.  Pray that our awareness will change this week as pray for the lost.

And, then there is a second responsibility, we when the opportunity comes — we need to take it!
