August 6 (Month of Prayer)

God, our only boast is that we know You. (Jeremiah 9:23-24)

This is what the Lord says: The wise person should not boast in his wisdom; the strong should not boast in his strength; the wealthy should not boast in his wealth.

But the one who boasts should boast in this: that he understands and knows Me—that I am the Lord, showing faithful love, justice, and righteousness on the earth, for I delight in these things. This is the Lord’s declaration.  (Jer. 9:23-24)

When I consider You, I have nothing to offer. I have no wisdom, strength, or wealth in the light of Who You are.

Forgive me for trusting in earthly things that will not last. I cannot boast in anything I have—recognizing You are the source of everything. All that I am, and all that I have, comes from You.

You are perfect love and perfect justice.  Your amazing love and grace made a way for me to know You—through Jesus.

My heart’s deepest desire is to agree with Paul:  “But as for me, I will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Gal. 6:14a)
