August 10 (Month of Prayer)

God, to know You is really to be known by You.

“But in the past, since you didn’t know God, you were enslaved to things that by nature are not gods. But now, since you know God, or rather have become known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and worthless elements?

Do you want to be enslaved to them all over again?

(Gal. 4:8-9)

Father, I acknowledge that I didn’t come to know You on my own. I could never figure You out. I could never grasp the knowledge of who You are. Your eternal attributes are beyond my comprehension.

You have always known me. You knew every day I would live before I lived a single day. Because You are God—You have complete knowledge of me. You know every thought that comes into my mind, even before I think it. Yet, somehow, You wanted me to have a relationship with You.

You reached out to me by Your Spirit, convicted me of my sin, and opened my eyes to see the cross of Jesus. When I fell to my knees and put my trust in Jesus — You brought me to Yourself. Now that I’ve come to know You, I am amazed that You have always completely known me and wanted a relationship with me anyway!

Your grace really is amazing.
