August 17 (Month of Prayer) Knowing God and Making Him Known

God, you have chosen to use us to spread the gospel.

That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to Himself…

and He has committed the message of reconciliation to us. (2 Cor. 5:19)

Father, You reconciled the world to Yourself through the cross. The reconciling work of the cross is beyond my comprehension.

But I clearly understand this one thing: I could never know You apart from Christ. I could only know about  You—but I could never really know You.

Now, You have poured out Your love in my heart through the Holy Spirit. And, You have chosen to use me to spread this Good News about Jesus. Again, beyond my comprehension.

This same message that brought salvation to my heart is now burning in my heart. You never intended that I sit quietly and keep it to myself. You have always intended to use me in the service of sharing it with others.

Give me spiritual eyes to see where it is needed. Stir my heart with the compassion that moves me share it.

Today I not only pray for my life—but the ministry of our church. All of us who claim to know this reconciliation have been given the privilege and responsibility of sharing it.

Use us Lord. For Your glory—use us to share this Good news with a broken world.
