August 23 (Month of Prayer)

God, You have sent us on mission in the same way You sent Jesus.

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you.

As the Father has sent Me, even so I am sending you.”

(John 20:21)

Sent. Your word tells me to live like I have been sent.

You brought me near in salvation. I was far off in my sinfulness—turned away from Your holiness. In Christ, You turned me around and brought me near.

Now, You say I am sent. Not sent away from You—but sent on mission by You.

I am keenly aware of how my mission is different from His.

You sent Christ to redeem sinners. You send me to proclaim forgiveness to fellow sinners.

You were in Christ reconciling the world to Yourself. You sent Him to do that.

You live in me to tell others how they can be reconciled through Him. You send me to do that.
