August 29 (Month of Prayer)

God, help us to walk in newness of life as a testimony to the gospel.

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

(Romans 6:4)

Father, as I begin a new day, I preach the gospel to my heart again.

I have been identified with Jesus in His death. I claim His death as the payment for my sin. I could never pay the price for my sin, remove my sin… I could never approach Your righteousness in my sinfulness. But I come to Jesus as the One who paid the complete price of my sin. I have baptized into His death.

I have a new identity in His life—resurrection life. You have raised me in Him. Through Him who loved me—I am more than a conqueror. I have a new kind of life in Him.

May I live this day as one who can love because I have been loved.

…as one who can forgive because I have been forgiven.

…as one who can serve because I have been served.

…as one who does what is right—because the Righteous One has given me new life.
